In 2025, IVK ENERGY completed a full range of work on the development of working design documentation for the installation of a new boiler house chimney ПрАТ «Харківська бісквітна фабрика»The project was completed in accordance with current building codes, within the established deadlines and taking into account the technological needs of the enterprise.

Project Background.

A brick chimney, 45 meters high, was operating on the factory premises. It was in an emergency condition and required dismantling. The chimney served a boiler house equipped with two steam boilers, each producing 4 tons of steam per hour and operating on natural gas.

• engineering surveys and analysis of the existing foundation slab
• preparation of all sections of the working project (KB, KM, TX, ETR, K);
• aerodynamic, structural, and technological calculations;
• development of drawings for foundations, steel structures, flue ducts, and lightning protection;
• preparation of the explanatory note and project specifications

At the same time, IVK ENERGIA provided continuous technical support constant technical support of the project during the fabrication and installation stages, maintaining direct communication with both the Client and the installation contractor. All questions related to project details, structural nodes, materials, or technical solutions were promptly clarified by our engineers.

This cooperation model ensured that the installation was performed strictly in accordance with the design intent and project requirements.

Key Engineering Solutions

The project documentation was initiated in the summer of 2025. Based on the initial data, geological surveys, and assessment of the existing foundation slab, the possibility of using the existing reinforced concrete base as a sublayer for the new foundation of the steel chimney tower was confirmed.

The project included:

1. 1. New Chimney

• • stainless steel AISI 304 construction, 1 mm thick;
• • 50 mm insulation and an external 0.5 mm stainless steel casing;
• • internal diameter Ø700/Ø800 mm;
• • height — 24 m. 24 м.

2. 2. Steel Support Tower

• • height — 22 m;
• • triangular steel frame structure;
• • chimney attachment using brackets and spacing clamps.

3. 3. New Flue Ducts

• • replacement of existing external steel flues with new insulated stainless-steel ducts;
• • installation of inspection hatches and explosion-relief devices;
• • installation of shut-off dampers enabling operation in the mode “one boiler running — one boiler in reserve.”

4. 4. Lightning Protection and Grounding

A lightning protection system of Level III was installed in accordance with DSTU EN 62305-1:2012, including:

• • GROMOSTAR E.S.E. lightning rod;
• • aluminum down conductors Ø10 mm in protective insulation tubing;
• • three vertical grounding electrodes Ø20 mm.

Result

By the beginning of the heating season, a fully assembled and commissioned new chimney system was put into operation at PJSC “Kharkiv Biscuit Factory.” The new chimney:, що:

• • ensures optimal aerodynamic performance for reliable boiler house operation;
• • complies with the CC1 consequence class; СС1;
• • guarantees long service life and fire safety;
• • meets environmental standards for emissions.

The project was completed on time, with all solutions coordinated with the Client and compliant with applicable regulations.
